Kevin, pickguards are generally routed from sheet stock, produced in the selected color. The same hue extends right down to the next layer, so even with sanding and polishing, you will retain the identical top color. White Stratocaster pickguards are available in different variations, the most common being pure-white, parchment, and aged-white. There is also a mint-green color that simulates the appearance of a white pickguard heavily exposed to smoke-filled rooms. If your pickguard was pure-white originally, and has just faded a bit over time, you can try a light polishing compound like Virtuoso Premium Polish to at least restore the original gloss. Other choices would be to buy a new white pickguard, or try painting your current pickguard white using a quality plastic paint like Krylon Fusion. Even brand-new pickguards still age over time, but at least the new plastic materials are much more stable than those used in the 60s! Best regards, Dana
