Of course not !
You are plenty young.
To start learning, I would highly recommend lessons. You can be creative and choose what discipline you like. Most people ride either english, or western.
English disciplines are accompanied with sub categories like dressage, jumping, cross country, hunters, english pleasure, etc. English is what I enjoy.
Western disciplines are accompanied with sub categories like western pleasure, gaming events, roping, trail classes, etc.
You are just going to have to do some research or test the waters in each to see which one you want to try.
The amount of time it takes to w/t/c varies from rider to rider. Just have patience to learn and take some lessons, don't rush things. You need a good foundation.
